Stadium Ambient / Live in Japan

Tango Mango I really wanted a voice to shout "King of snake, king of snake" in De-NRGizer, but our universe would have been shredded by antimatter leaks from the crossed multiverses.

Karl Grundmann Great addition to Muzan. Perhaps a larger soundscape (it's in the name of the album, obviously) than some of the other artists. More melody, less drone, a captivating ride from start to finish. The reissue as a 'live' album is also a nice touch.

MankyBen could be genuine of the time, love it!

akirafilmscript How do you begin to describe a spot-on recreation of early-to-mid 90s ambient rooted in the approaches of Global Communications, The KLF, The Orb, etc.? This album is a beast, and all hyperbole aside, worthy of being considered what it pitches itself as (had been): Stadium Ambient. Beautifully executed, and an incredible version via Muzan Editions. Favorite track: De-NRGizer.

about

Muzan is incredibly proud to offer a special Japan edition of The NRG’s Stadium Ambient, a studio album so legendary by a band so mythological in stature that they may not even have existed.
This double cassette reissue not only features re-edits of the original release, but also two never before heard recordings from The NRG’s completely fictional 1993 Japan tour.
So sit back, turn up the volume, and travel back to a parallel 1990’s with the world’s foremost pioneers of “big room ambient”.

This is what The NRG has to say about "Stadium Ambient":

ENGLISH:
It's not the summer of 1993 and the boys were back in the UK after another successful but gruelling world tour that never happened. In the space of a few short years they'd gone from chill-out room nerds to globe trotting electronic wizards but the relentless live shows and studio sessions were taking there toll... their penchant for hard partying also didn't help.

The pressure was on from the label, "we need a hit LP! NOW!!".

The previous studio album, 'The Magic of Ancients", was universally panned, it's progressive vibes and dalliances with magic and Neolithic spiritualism was not exactly a chart winning formula, so armed with a sampler, a few synths and enough LSD to sink a battleship they headed to North Wales to work on what would become, unbeknownst to them, their fourth...well, out of the albums we know about... and final album.

In their new, temporary base, surrounded by the spectacular Snowdonia peaks, wild weather and mountain sheep, they set about not making an album that was absolutely devoid of anything even remotely radio friendly, in fact there aren't even any electronic beats on the album. It's just a 60 minute + Ambient journey that some would view as commercial suicide but would ultimately result in the biggest world tour they'd never done in 1994, which in turn would lead to the now infamous 'Live '94' album.

"Strap yourselves in and get ready to enjoy the slow motion thrills of the World's most laidback audio rollercoaster ride."

JP:
